He's been looking for a brave crew to help him recover the ring from the belly of the beast. You can keep any treasure you find en route, and the man has promised a rich reward. Are you ready to take him on board your ship?
Quest32MutinyWhen you regained consciousness, you were tied up in your own ship's galley. A few of your men have led a mutiny against you!

Should you succeed, your name will certainly go down in history as one of the greatest pirates of all time. Act now! This may be your only chance to prove yourself!
Quest37Grandfather's Map"You have come not a moment too soon!" says your father as he greets you. "Your grandfather is dying and awaits you in his bedchamber." You have bravely fought countless battles and you have sunk many ships and yet it is with quaking knees that you enter the room where your grandfather lies dying. He breathes an audible sigh of relief as you enter. As you sit down next to him, he gives you a small box and looks gratefully into your eyes before closing his own forever. Eventually, you become aware of the box in your hands. You open it and find a sea chart with a letter inside. "My dear grandson," it begins, "I hereby leave you this chart. When it came into my hands I was already too old to venture out in search of the treasure it reveals. I count on you to fulfill my dream." Find the treasure on the map and grant your grandfather's dying wish.

Put everything in the vial, seal it, and bring it back to the royal chamber to heal the King.
Quest39Growing ThreatThe Tortuga Gang, an infamous band of pirates, is becoming very powerful and their numbers are growing daily. The King has asked for your help and is offering you a reward of 450,000 gold doubloons to sink seven of the band's ships.

Find his treasure and take what's owed to you!
Quest41Trade RoutesThe captain of a ship from the "Sinclare's Men" has gotten hold of a map showing the royal fleet's trade routes. Set sail and demolish at least five of the ships belonging to "Sinclare's Men".
Quest42CourierThe trade alliance between different islands and different cultures is set to expire, but business is booming, and all sides are willing to renew it. The King doesn't wish to risk losing this valuable trade and urges the quick the renewal of the alliance. You've been commissioned to get all parties to sign the agreement and return it to the Chamber of Commerce.
Quest43Advance GuardThe royal fleet is preparing a massive attack against the pirate band known as the "Rat Pack". Your mission is not official: You must disappear before the fleet arrives to avoid rumors that the King is collaborating with pirates
Quest44The SpyA member of "Los Renegados" followed you to your buried treasure last night. Now he's planning to give away the secret! Sadly, you weren't able to recognize his ship in the dark. Lucky for you, there are only a few ships from the NPC guild in the vicinity. Destroy at least five ships from the "Los Renegados" pirate band.
Quest45The AttackNothing at sea is safe from evil pirates. But now Los Amistadores is presumed to attack the kingdom itself - and those poxy dogs are strong! The King needs reinforcements to hold off the attacking fleet: Sink 25 Los Amistadores ships in order to weaken their offensive advantage.
Quest46BacklashBravo! You sunk many Los Amistadores ships. The survivors are regrouping, and they're now more determined than ever. They just can't resist the King's valuable treasures. Another attack so close on the heals of the last one would threaten the kingdom's very existence: Sink 35 Los Amistadores ships and save the kingdom. Drive off those scurvy pirates for good!
Quest47OffensiveThe lion's share of the enemy's troops were destroyed, but there are still some troublemakers on the high seas. The King is sending you out to put an end to the threat they pose. Set sail and search for what's left of the enemy Armada - sink 22 Rat Pack ships and stop them in their tracks!
Quest48Silent watersFinally some peace and quiet - you defeated all the enemy pirates! Too bad that didn't last long. Sir Henry Morgan's men have appeared and are spreading terror and fear among the trading vessels. Back to work: Destroy 17 of his ships to make these trade routes passable again.
Quest49The King's GoldYou've successfully defended the kingdom, and the King and his people are eternally grateful. But this battle has also taught you that the King's gold is not safe here. It's time for you to weigh anchor, set sail and hide the King's treasures in a secret place. Once the gold is out of the country, the kingdom will no longer be vulnerable to attack. It's a huge responsibility; are you ready for the challenge?
Quest50ConvoyThe safety of the kingdom's treasures is your responsibility. Make sure that nothing happens to the King's gold by securing the transport route: Harpoon all sea monsters and destroy 10 Calico's Men. Then nothing will get in your way and it will be smooth sailing for the convoy!
Quest51EscapeTREASON! Some bilge-sucking scallywag got wind of your plans and sold the transport route to the other pirates. An ambush was inevitable: The pirates were armed to the teeth and waiting for you. There was no help for it - you were forced to flee the enemy ships and get the royal treasures to a safe hiding place. Eventually you managed to outsail the pirates and bring the gold to safety. Good work!
Quest52PreparationsYou've learned a great deal and come a long way, earning yourself a name as a fearsome opponent. You wear your battle scars with pride, as a testament to your honorable deeds of the past. This quest will demand a lot from you; you'll need to work with your crew to overcome the challenge. Defeat the Flying Dutchman, the most feared pirate, and go down in the annals as a great seafarer! Here's hoping that your ship makes it through this quest in one piece!
Quest53The Time of Peace is OverYou've been taking it easy lately. It's been a rather quiet year for the kingdom and you took the time to build up a fleet of ships, even founding a small guild.

Coming home one day, you look down to read the headline of the RGX newspaper:

War: Invasion of the Kilikerian Empire! A spokesperson from the royal house, who wishes to remain anonymous, confirmed this news, telling us that the situation sounds more serious than it actually is. He advises a large mobilization of troops, but has complete confidence in his King, and assures the people that there is no reason to panic. They've got everything under control.

No rest for the weary, Captain. It's time to cast off: Duty calls!
Quest54Your returnWhen you reach the King's harbor, you learn that conflicts have been flaring up on the border: Many island dwellers and trade ships have been attacked. Your first assignment is to go to the border zones and find out who's behind these attacks. Then you report back to your King.

"We have to save our islands," says the King angrily. "Can I count on you and your men, Captain? Do everything in your power to stop reinforcements from getting through to the unknown enemy. There have already been 47 sightings of spy ships from the Kilikerian Empire there!"

All of a sudden the King's adjutant comes running in: "My lord, I bring you good tidings! The Kiribati fleet has been cut off and we have to act now! The King turns to you and says, "Use this to your advantage and teach those cowards not to mess with us!" You bow once again and leave the hall quickly.

It's time to destroy 47 Kiribati!
Quest55OverconfidenceOn the way back home from a successful mission, you receive a dispatch stating that the enemy has been spotted once again on the kingdom's borders. It's the infamous Kilimatu Armada, an especially sinister crew, known for being quick and unpredictable. "Finally, a worthy opponent!" you say gleefully.
The disaster comes as you might have expected it.
You sail into battle bravely, but as you close in on the enemy, the mood of your crew slowly begins to change. Your blood freezes as you look up: You definitely weren't expecting such a powerful armada. Are your men up to the challenge?

You do have one strategic advantage: They haven't spotted you yet! With courage borne of despair, you say to your crew: "Battle stations, men, it's going to be a hard but glorious battle!"

Destroy 34 Kilimatu!
Quest56The BoyWas there ever any doubt? Congrats! Now it's time to sail home with your damaged warship - you deserve a breather. "A good fight", you think to yourself. "A bit rusty, but still the same old warhorse," you congratulate yourself as you pat yourself proudly on the shoulder.

Arriving at your home port, you look forward to a little shore leave. But what awaits your weary eyes? Smoking ruins, demolished market stands, deserted streets: In a dark corner of a rundown street, you find a cowering boy and ask him what the blazes happened. Crying and choking on his words, he tells you what took place: Mighty ships appeared suddenly on the horizon; and before anyone could get to safety, they started firing. The king was able to escape by the skin of his teeth, and was only able to bring a few troops and a couple ships to safety.

Who is responsible? "Kilikeria" races through your mind, of course!

You run back to the ship with your crew and the boy. Time is of the essence - you get your vessel shipshape as quickly as possible. The sails are mended, food and rum are hauled on board. You're ready to go. You set sail with your crew on the next morning.
Quest57Sea BattleBack at sea, and there's already an emergency: The Kilikerians. At the Horn of Capricosa, you run into the first Kilikierian spy ship. "They've got to be here somewhere," says your lookout from the crow's nest, "There, on the horizon!" You swing yer spy-glass around. "Yaarrrr!" Lined up like a string of pearls, you see the enemy ships. Your co-captain scuttles over - you weren't expecting anything like this.

You've seen enough to realize that your carefully laid plans be useless. The new plan is much simpler: fight for your lives!

Defend yourself and destroy 25 Kiliwallis!
Quest58Takeover of KilikieriaYour fleet is anchored just outside the enemy city's harbor. Your forces have been weakened, but you wait patiently while they're repaired and equipped. The city's covered in a morning haze: During last night's secret meeting, you worked out a plan of attack not even the strongest fortress could withstand. Dawn breaks, and the time has come: You sail close to the city via a small bay. The soft rhythm of your oars could give you away, but rowboats are the only way to get ashore in these shallow waters.

Armed to the teeth, your entire fleet works its way closer to the city walls. A short whistle, and it's time to strike! What a triumph; there is hardly any resistance. It seems that all the soldiers are at sea with the Kilikierian Armada. You overwhelm the handful of farmers and traders in the blink of an eye. Frightened out o' their wits, they willingly surrender anything of value.

The King will shower you with medals and honor when you sail home and report that you captured the Kilikierian fortress, and that it now belongs to him.
Quest59Homeward Bound! The motivation level on your ship is at an all-time high - despite the deprivation, scurvy and abstinence. "Man your stations!" you shout across deck, "we're finally on our way home, and the whole city will cheer our arrival when they see the booty we've brought them." But all that gold doesn't mean much to you - you're in it for the honor and the fame.

The journey home is far from smooth sailing: Heavy winds, dangerous currents and huge waves threaten your ship. Can she withstand these forces of nature in her weakened condition? You take advantage of every break in the weather to urge your mates: "Repair, men, repair!"

As if that weren't enough, sea monsters keep popping up along the way. But your crewmen are tried and true; they bravely master the thickest fog and unerringly skewer the orcas and other beasts with their harpoons.

Destroy 75 orcas
Quest60Twist of FateYou're within spitting distance of your destination when news of home reaches you for the first time - from a drunken sailor you picked up on a barren island. You won't be heartily welcomed. The King and his followers are displeased, and your name has made the rounds in all the city's taverns.

What you didn't know - couldn't have known - because of your long absence: The Kilkierians have become allies of the King - your King! He's taken your attack on the Kilikierians as an act of treason! The Kilikierians didn't recognize you as ambassadors of the King because your flag was torn to shreds. Yours weren't the actions of a brave hero: You snuck up on the city, ambushed it and attacked innocent civilians.

Branded as pirates, you are all outlaws: Neither you nor your crewmen can ever go home again. You're outcasts, left to your fate on the open seas. But no time for self pity: The King's fleet is hot on your heels! It's now or never - time to strike back!

Load your cannons and destroy 37 Trinidad
Quest61Nothing Ventured, Nothing GainedYou barely escaped the cannons of the King's fleet, and your ship took on considerable damage. You and your men retreated to a sheltered bay to lick your wounds. Bad enough that your ship looks like an abandoned wreck; disappointment is written all over your men's faces. You had nothing but good intentions, and now look at you - despised by your own countrymen. As a real pirate, this is nothing new to you, but your men have always fulfilled their duties faithfully and without question.

But being branded as criminals and outsacts seems to have awakened defiance in them. If they're going to be cast as pirates, then pirates they shall be! "Men, let's show the world that we've got what it takes to rule the seas as the most famous and feared pirate crew!"

The first step: Get your ship in shipshape condition. Full of vim, vigor and vitality, your men sing pirate songs, repair the sails and polish the cannons - whoever dares to mess with us will get what's coming to them!

With a fair amount of rum, you celebrate your rebirth: The Jolly Roger is hoisted, and the very next morning you leave your safe haven. A few cannon salvos announce you intentions: Every merchant fleet, every ship and every sloop that crosses your path will be sunk!

Destroy 50 Santa Lucia
Quest62Sea BattleRobbing, looting, capturing ships - that's how ye pass the time on the high seas. No one dares to speak your name aloud - that's how notorious you've become. You've amassed a great fortune and found many allies with whom you terrorize the trade routes. Your revenge on the king will go down in history as a most horrendous event - that's the promise you made to yourself.

Hate runs deep in your veins: Every attack which robs the King of his treasures is good for your soul. On your last shore leave, you gained a valuable bit of information from a drunken old seaman who said that the king has planned an alliance with an overseas nation - an alliance which is based largely on the sale of raw diamonds.

And it looks like these diamonds are soon to be shipped. The King made you outlaws, you would risk everything to steal this treasure. The route the trade ships are to take is top secret - good thing there are such things as spies. Get the coordinates in the pub and ambush the merchant fleet. If you win this battle, you'll be one of the richest pirates of all times.
Quest63The Fog of HorrorYou came close to death, but you were able to come out on top. A worthy performance - the King didn't see it coming, and he's still brooding over your defiant actions. But at least he now sees you as a worthy opponent - and he grudgingly gives you the respect you deserve. After all, you served him faithfully and never betrayed him. Reconciliation is out of the question - the grudge between you sits too deep.

After this battle to end all battles, you retreat to peaceful waters and give your men a well-deserved rest; wine, women and song, that's what they need most right now. During their binge, you hatch your plans for the future. A short while ago, you heard of some uncharted waters which are supposedly overflowing with treasures and adventure. The only disadvantage: The area is constantly covered by eery fog. The fog is known as the "Fog of Horror" - as there are reportedly zombies, monsters and evil lurking about in these seas. Those who enter never return. Are you ready for adventure, Cap'n?
Quest64New Adventures!Your journey into the unknown has begun, and you're navigating seas rarely sailed before. Caution is the word of the day - what if the world really is flat?! You don't want to sail into the abyss. But the coordinates seem to be trustworthy. Unfortunately, the schooners, frigates and sloops are getting on your nerves.

Luckily, your sturdy ship is better than most. You make your way through the Seafight seas and show no mercy to those who get in your way. You intend to reach your goal, no matter what! You're fascinated by the mysteries surrounding you.

You ignore your crew's absurd superstitions: "Nonsense!" is all you say. Dead or alive? Ghosts of the undead? You don't believe a word of it.

Destroy 75 Ghidora
Quest65Life or DeathIt is getting harder and harder to navigate - the fog's getting thicker. Just a short while ago, your lookout almost fell out the crow's nest; a bad omen? But nothing can stop you now: You grit your teeth and steer your ship into the unknown: You can hardly wait to see a world which nobody has ever laid eyes on before. You've even stocked up on equipment to chart this new area.

Suddenly, a scream pierces the fog. A scream the likes of which you've never heard before. The only human thing about this hair-raising noise is sheer agony, your crew are shaking in their boots. Suddenly, you see where the sound originated from.

An enormous creature of unnatural strength towers over your ship. Escape is no longer possible: You'll have to fight. And worst of all, this creature is not alone: There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of them... at least, that's how it seems. Destroy as many as you can, it is a matter of life or death!

Fire away and destroy 23 Garguelta
Quest66Virgin SoilYou escaped the deadly sea creatures by the skin of your teeth, and were able to take down quite a few of them in the process. What an adventure! Luckily the fog is lifting now and you can finally see some of your surroundings.

What you see is astonishing: An island with beautiful rolling hills covered in rich vegetation and an abandoned sailboat floating calmly in the bay. You see a schooner bearing the flag of your king - the man who's now your sworn enemy.

You quickly board the ship and discover gold, mirrors, table silver - all in perfect condition. This ship was manned not so long ago. Cold shivers run up your back as you hear a woman scream.
You turn around and see - the king's daughter! You heard about her abduction a few weeks ago, and it seems that she's been held captive in this remote location since then. It's up to you now: The pirates who kidnapped her have spotted you!

Arm your cannons and destroy 85 Kiribati
Quest67EscapeYou escaped the enemy pirates - but with a real princess on board, life is twice as dangerous. She could get injured or killed in an attack, and she's of no use to you dead. On your way home, you try to decide that to do with her.

After long deliberation, you finally make a decision: Life is just too harsh at sea. You're constantly under attack by enemy pirates, and the Kilikierian fleet is on your tail again.

Destroy 68 Kokelau!
Quest68A Brief EngagementA member of the royal family has been taken hostage by the men of Calico's Jack and is being held for ransom. The King refuses to pay, and he wants you to deal with them quickly. Blow two Calico's Jack ships to smithereens.
Quest69Whale BlubberAhoy, Cap'n! We urgently need whale blubber to make lantern oil or the city will soon be shrouded in darkness! One Firubor should suffice.
Quest70Precious CargoWhile in the pub, you overheard parts of a whispered conversation between two swashbuckling sailors: "... nobody knows anything about it ... they just returned from lootin' a ship filled with gold ... aye, aye - twas the Rackham. They can't be that far away now ..." So what do you say? How about it Cap'n? Ready to beat them to the booty?
Quest71Ball and Chain"Cap'n, Cap'n! My wife and I were sailing over to my mother-in-law's when a gigantic Trankus attacked our ship. She fell overboard and I watched helplessly as the Trankus swallowed her whole. If we catch it quickly, there might still be a chance to cut her out of the beast's belly. Please rescue my wife - I'd be forever grateful!"
Quest72AmberThe Serena are infamous for eating anything that crosses their path. Apparently, they've been feeding off a rich amber deposit in a deep-sea trench not far from here. If you find a couple of amber stones in the bellies of the Serena, you'll be able to sell them for a profit at the market cove.

You see, this is a special time: only when the Eighth Star is in alignment can the great Thyella Eels be hunted. Only the bravest hunters can go after them, and only if they work together to hunt in a pack, which is why delivering a live specimen pays so well. We were driving a big one ahead of us when a storm blew up and, well... we sort of lost it. Some fresh, still-twitching tentacles might bait it back to us.
Quest199Their Own Worst EnemyIt wasn't just a storm! Typhon, the huge Thyella Eel we'd caught, escaped due to rival vovoi sabotage! They must have been planning to recapture it themselves and snake our deal out from under us... But they're no good at hunting in packs! They got in each others' way, and Typhon escaped. That's an enormous payday swimming away! Sink the vovoi; fish any survivors out of the drink and I'm sure they'll be surprisingly talkative about where to look.
Quest200Fresh BaitNo wonder Typhon didn't go after our last bait! We'd set our trap in the wrong place altogether. But with some fresh bait, it'll work this time - and then we'll have a hunting trip the likes of which you'll probably never see again! And don't worry: I haven't forgotten about your badge. I used some of your bribe money to track down a corsair informant. What? It's a Captain's privilege to divert funds if he deems it necessary. This isn't the Navy.
Quest201DiversionThe other vovoi are planning to stick their oars into our business again and scupper our pack-hunt for Typhon. If you keep them otherwise occupied, they won't be able to sabotage our plan again, and I'll be able to get this trap set up and baited without interruption. Then we'll down this lightning-spitting beast and reap the rewards! At this point, I'm willing to deliver it alive, dead, or stunned and drooling - whichever is easiest.
Quest202Release the Hounds!I like the cut of your jib; you're smart and efficient. I want to work together again someday, so when we take the giant eel Typhon down, it'll be worth your while. Not only will you get that lost badge you were looking for and your share of the reward money, but you'll also have first pick of any of the exotic little snakes that often live on Thyella Eels, if we see any. If you can domesticate them, their magic can make you as slippery and evasive as they are!
Quest203Turtle migrationGood morning, captain! Pssst … it's me - your old mate, Alexandros. Nice camouflage, eh? I'm in disguise today. My spies keep rambling on about some continental turtle that's been destroying one harbor after the other. It's just like in the old legend. What, you're not scared, are you? Hah hah! No need to worry ... just the other day we sunk an alchemist ship. It had some pretty top-secret ammunition plans on board. Let's go salvage them. I hereby appoint you my voluntary helper, Filos!
Quest204Brute forceWelcome back, Filos. All in one piece? Excellent! That cursed continental turtle continues its path of destruction, but with your ammunition plans, we have an ace up our sleeves. My best friend used to have the required materials ... that is until I caught him with my wife. Whoever lets me down, pays with their life. Oh by the way ... you need to find his stash of resources. Your not going to let me down, are you?
Quest205Trail Growing ColdGood morning, my dear! You just can't be killed, can you? Lucky you! The next ingredient we need is ice ammo. It just so happens that my ex-wife trades the stuff. Don't tell her anything about the death of your lover, Filos. That would just kill her. And we don't want to do that, now do we? After all, there are much better ways to die!
Quest206They All Go Down I've got goosebumps, Filos ... my wife's last words ... she cursed me! She wished me all the evil in the world. But the bullets' alloys? How wonderful! They rip through armor like a hot knife through butter. What? A private demo for other pirates? Excellent idea! Don't worry, word of our secret weapon won't make the rounds. You can take your knowledge with you … to the bottom of the sea.
Quest207Galapa BulletsThe continental turtle is real! No matter where I sail, there he is! As if he were following me! Why did he choose me? Why, Filos? Don't stare at me that way! I'm just a simple, small, innocent sinner. Force that monster into retreat with shell shock ammo and save me from Cassiopeia. What? Yes, I named it Cassiopeia. After my ex, a two-faced hussy who could never be satisfied.
Quest208"Gecko"cution (Repeatable)Keep it up, FIlos. We've weakened the continental turtle. But don't be fooled, that beast won't go down easy.

Don't give up yet! If all pirates pull together, you can save me. Oh yeah, and the ocean, too! Get to work, come on!
Quest209Battle of the Titans: Between Scylla...Cassandra: The arbitrator for the female Titan team.Greetings, sailor. If you wish to align yourself with the team of Titans fighting in the name of Gaia, Mother of All, I have a simple task with which to prove your loyalty: retrieve carvings from the sunken statues of the Oracle of Delphi, she who speaks the future... and is heard.

Me?

I am Cassandra. It is my sad task to arbitrate on behalf of Team Gaia in the annual Battle of the Titans, every year, forever, until the universe itself is plunged into eternal dark and all things die. Even the gods of Olympos. Which they will. Don't worry, I don't expect you to believe me. No-one ever does.
Quest210Deadly Mawsen.wikipedia.org/wiki/ScyllaIt seems you're sincere. Very well. The Battle's segments use elements from our legends and lore as their motifs; you are currently performing the task of Scylla. She had many mouths with which to snatch up many sailors all at once from unwary ships who got too close to her - and like her, you must claim several victims in order to fulfil this task.

...Yes, I suppose my speech may seem somewhat old-fashioned to you - but I assure you, it cannot sound as strange as yours does to me. You won't sound very modern yourself in a millenium or two.
Quest211Collateral PlunderThe next step in this task is of a less bloody and more material nature. The Olympian gods would probably say it was something to do with righteous sacrifice - but the truth is that Scylla simply snapped up all sorts of strange things as she aimed for unwary sailors to consume.

No, I suppose I don't sound all that cheerful. And? Would you be happy if, every year, you were pulled out of whatever situation you were in to arbitrate among a lot of squabbling immortals, with no choice nor end in sight? Precisely.
Quest212Orichalcum CoinagePlato's/Solon's coins: made of orichalcum, a magic-proof metal from AtlantisIf it weren't for the Atlantean Coins of Plato and Solon, we'd have no way to keep track of the Battle.

They're made of a metal called orichalcum, found only on Atlantis - because it's magic-proof. Mortals can work it if they're shown the secret of it, but no god or Titan has ever found a way to counterfeit or change it, which means it's a cheat-proof token of victory.

I, and the Titans on Team Gaia, will use them to learn which mortal pirates is the most fierce on their behalf.
Quest213A Different GreedIt's an odd twist of fate that Scylla was not as greedy for gold as she was for flesh - she certainly amassed enough of it. Not nearly as much as her neighbor Charybdis, of course, but most of the sailors (and pirates!) she consumed bore their wealth upon their persons... and their baubles and coinage ended up in her lair; it's probably all still there.

Your contribution of Solon's Coins, however, will end up on a counting-board to help determine the Battle's winner.
Quest214Scaled Tailen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capricorn_%28astrology%29It is time for the second task: that of Capricorn. A strange beast, indeed, that Zeus immortalized in the stars as thanks for its mother's care of him when he was but a babe. Its rear half is that of a great fish, allowing it to travel around the oceans with great speed.

Like the Capricorn, you must prove your speed and confidence on the waves - visit the three places you will be given to complete this task's first step.
Quest215Cornucopiaen.wikipedia.org/wiki/AmaltheiaThe infant Zeus' divine strength snapped off the horn of the she-goat who suckled him - Amalthea, mother of the Capricorn - and it became the Horn of Plenty.

Your offerings must be plentiful as well: seek out chests of treasure. I would wish you luck, but you won't need it... not that you'd believe me.

Why? Because of Apollo's curse, of course! He condemned me to speak only truth and encounter only disbelief. Though that is hardly the only enchantment under which I labour.
Quest216Hourglass EyesThe front half of the Capricorn, as you are surely aware, is a horned goat. Do not mistake it for a mere beast, of course: even mortal goats are hardly imbeciles. They can be fierce, and fearsome - as you must be to complete this task. The Warriors of Ouranos are no easy prey, but they will fall before you. Be bold, and have faith.

I find myself coming to like you. That is unexpected. It has been many a year since I have looked into mine own future, as my fate remained unchanging for so very, very long. Perhaps I ought to do so again.
Quest217Battering RamThere are greater foes out there than Scylla, or the Warriors, or even the great creatures of the deep that I hear inhabit this world... and you must confront them if you would earn Team Gaia the victory. Be swift and agile as a flashing fish's tail, and unyielding as the horns of a charging ram, and you will prevail.

I have considered turning my Sight to my future, but I confess: I fear what I might find. Not death, for that is denied me by divine decree; and not pain, for that I have had and will again... But I fear that my fate is truly unchanging, and will look no different to me than it did the last time I dared peer at it, centuries ago.
Quest218Many a Cloven HoofMany cuts will bleed even an aurochs - and a wolf who wanders into a pen full of goats will come to regret it deeply. Thus comes the lesson of this task of Capricorn: it can be as effective to band together to fell an opponent as it might be to find a demigod or hero who could do so alone. Cause mayhem! Cause damage! And you will be victorious.

I'm sure of it. There is something about you... not just you yourself, but all of you strange, young, fast-talking, quick-ruddered pirates. You have a vitality, and a stubbornness, that gives me hope.
Quest219A Creature of MadnessI am forbidden from aiding those who do not support the Gaian faction, as you have likely deduced by now. Actions made on the behalf of Team Gaia are counted in abstract points as well as in orichalcum coin - and the Titans jealously monitor the count of points for and against themselves.

As you go forth now to grow your fame and reputation, prepare yourself for this task: that of the Manticore. Is stealing the barb from its tail still the test of a hunter? ...No? Do you not have those creatures in this world? Then to you, they must indeed seem like creatures out of madness itself!
Quest220Delphic FragmentsYou may be tempted to frame this request in terms of... shall we say, oracular rivalry? But I am asking that you retrieve more fragments of the Oracle of Delphi for a different reason. Usually, the Battle is formally initiated with the destruction of any agreed-upon object, and the Oracle's statuary was chosen from this. But - and I do not know if it is due to her own prophetic powers echoing even in her carved images, or something else - there is some strange property to those carvings that relieves my own oppression.

I cannot say for certain that being near them is chipping away at the fetters of enchantment that hold me, but that is where my thoughts lead me.
Quest221A Fearsome StingQuickly! Though the Olympians have long left me and Ajax, my counterpart arbitrator for Team Ouranos, to our own devices, trusting in their magics to bind us to their will, I was foolish to have taken such a risk as to ask a mortal participant in the Battle to fulfil a personal request! You must now prove that you are fully joined in the Battle, by destroying a rival participant.

Even as the Manticore's scorpion tail can bring instant death to its victims, so must you be as fast and deadly.
Quest222Shark TeethGood, good. I no longer see the risk of Olympian curiosity and vengeance in your future; we have misdirected them back into complacency, for now. We must remain wary, however.

...No: I can bear to look into your future, but not yet my own. Have patience.

Let us return to the task of the Manticore, and take inspiration from it once more. It has a human face, you see, which might lead some to dismiss its maw as harmless. But that mouth contains three rows of razor-sharp teeth, constantly replenishing themselves - and the damage they can do is fearsome! Set upon a mighty target, and hurt it as badly as though you, too, had such fangs.
Quest223Terrible Roaren.wikipedia.org/wiki/ManticoreA little-known characteristic of the Manticore is its fearsome voice, which calls out louder than thunder to strike fear into its prey. I suspect some influence from its lion body, though I cannot say for certain.

Now you, too, must strike fear to all who hear of you! As you have no trumpeting voice or monstrous appearance, you will have to do so in a more traditional fashion: with deaths, and many of them. Some day, perhaps you will be considered as dangerous as the Manticore!
Quest224Poseidon's Herden.wikipedia.org/wiki/HippocampYou're made of stern stuff, to have both survived and succeeded thus far. You're certain you've no gods or demigods in your ancestry? Zeus? Pan? Are you certain? They're both notorious for unsanctioned affairs... Not that any Olympian is exactly a paragon of virtue, of course. Look at what shining Apollo did to me...

This next task is that of the Hippocamp. A team of them draw Poseidon's chariot over the waves - so, too, must you travel across the wine-dark seas, proving that you share this creature's endurance and swiftness.
Quest225Feathered NestsThe Hippocamp's rear half is long, curling, lightly finned, and scaled - not quite a fish's tail, but rather closer to that of its distant cousin, the seahorse. It is well-acquainted with the deepest sea-floors, and its agile tail is nimble and clever when it comes to prying open containers. It is particularly fond of treasure-chests and cargo holds, whose contents it uses to decorate its grotto-nests and attract mates.

I am certain you grasp the connection. No-one ever accused the gods who determined all of these tasks so many centuries ago of being particularly subtle. Except, perhaps, for Hephaestus - he who has done so little harm while receiving so much...
Quest226IntrigueThe mysterious person alluded to here, is actually Ajax, Cassandra's counterpart in Team OuranosThis step of the task demands that you retrieve Solon's Coins, and... wait... there! We are concealed! Aja--he actually did it! Now, pay close attention: no deity, demigod, Titan, or prophet can observe us just now, so we must be quick!

The future is truly uncertain for the first time in a great many years. We have a brief, shining chance to start down a path that could end this pointless annual Battle! Not, I suspect, this year... But soon! You see, the Olympians have promised the Titans that the winners of the majority of these Battles will be declared their "true champions" and leaders, worthy of striking a bargain with the gods. But without fail, each Team that lost the previous year has won that year's Battle, creating an endless equal score! And - oh! We have no more time!
Quest227Flashing HoovesThe Hippocamp's front half is that of a mighty steed. Their race was created by Poseidon, in his aspect of Father of Horses. Just as their scaled tails allow them to travel through the water, their hooves allow them to pull his chariot onto the shore - and defend themselves while on land. You must be as deadly as those sharp hooves, and leave as few survivors as an enraged Hippocamp defending its foal.

...By your expression, I sense that it feels rather like a history lesson every time we speak, but please understand: the enchantments I am under require that I explain the terms of each Battle, each Task, and each step in that Task. If you are growing impatient, kindly try to imagine how weary I am of relating this information after having done so for centuries!
Quest228Ties That BindJust as the Hippocamps are bridled and harnessed to Poseidon's chariot, so must you bind yourself ever more firmly to Team Gaia - in this case, by increasing your reputation with it. It is customary to do so by sowing discord and creating mayhem, but I will leave the details up to yourself.

Forgive my weary sighs; every time this Task comes to a close, I am reminded of the ties that bind me, too, as surely as any steed to its chariot. Mine cannot be seen, but their magics lie heavily upon me nonetheless. They prevent me from finding my long-deserved final rest in the Elysian Fields; they prevent me from aiding those I love with this useless prophetic gift... they even prevent me from telling you very much about them.
Quest229The Greater of Two Evilsen.wikipedia.org/wiki/CharybdisI understand that the tale of that idiot Odysseus survived better than mine own. If so, you may have heard of the strait through which he passed, on one side of which roosted the terrifying Scylla. He was advised to sail closer to her, as losing six sailors to her appetite was better than losing his entire ship...

Charybdis was the monster on the other side of the strait. This is her Task. Like her, you must be unstoppable and unmerciful: even if yours is not the killing blow, ensure that the Titan you battle has felt your sting!

Meanwhile, Ajax is still working to buy us the odd moment of unobserved time. Be prepared, and be vigilant.
Quest230Bloated and ThirstingCharybdis was one of Gaia's daughters, once, and as fair as any might ask to see. Zeus punished her for aiding her father Poseidon during their feud: he cursed her into the form of a hideous bladder of a monster, with flippers for limbs, and an uncontrollable thirst for seawater. Thrice a day, she takes a great drink from the sea, creating a whirlpool vast and strong enough to founder any ship.

This step of the Task of Charybdis requires you to avoid the sucking depths of fear and despair, to sail nimbly, and to pick your own path as best you can, to increase your reputation with Team Gaia. This is all to the good for us, as well. Your dedication could lay to rest any suspicion of us that may arise.

Quest232...and CharybdisWe have come to the final Task's end. It must be sealed with a death - such is often the way with divine tests - and a mighty death, at that. If you return to me with three hands of Solon's Coins as proof of a Titan's defeat, you will be able to count yourself among the few mighty mortal heroes who have completed all the Tasks during a Battle of the Titans and lived to tell the tale. And I hope you do tell it - many times, over many amphorae of wine!

I feel privileged to have shared this journey with you. And I must thank you; I feel my spirits slowly lightening. I hope to see you again, whether in the next Battle or on the Elysian Fields.
